  • Frederick's Collection
Frederick's CollectionFrederick's Collection was a project done during my first year of university. The brief was to create a font for a museum, I chose the Horniman Museum. The name refers to Frederick Horniman, who gave his name to the museum, which is filled with his personal collection of objects accumulated during his various travels. Frederick Horniman decided to make his collection accessible to the public, as it was his wish and opinion that everyone should have access to knowledge of art, nature and cultur

The moment I had good knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, I started making small works, mainly as a volunteer within my church. We would have recuring events and was often asked to make the designs for the adverstisment of these events. The work ranged from flyers, illustrations and videos. After my apprenticeship, I kept making work for my church but also was able to work on a few paid projects, thanks to the connections I made whilst creating for my church. Even if I am currently studying in the UK, I keep working for my church in Switzerland, as it is always a great opportunity for me to grow as a creator.

MBG Michel Boegli is an entreprise working in tourism specialised in creating and providing Swiss souvenirs for gift shops around Switzerland. If you have ever visited a city in Switzerland and bought a souvenir, chances are that it might have been from MBG. I had previously worked there, but working with them again I was able to be part of the creative process. The entreprise works with various manufacturing companies around the world to create souvenirs such as kitchen towels, magnets or T-shirts. I help to create and provide files for these companies, seeing the final results being sold in shops is very rewarding.

Starting a BA in graphic design was a big decision that I do not regret. I wanted to expand my knowledge in design and study in a vibrant city. The course has helped me to think outside the box and to become a creative thinker.

For my first year of apprenticeship, I attended ERACOM everyday for a whole year, except for school holidays, which I spent working at the printing company. This year was speficially dedicated to deeply learn about Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, this way we would be prepared to work as professionals within the companies we were employed at during the rest of our apprenticeship. For the rest of the 3 years, I went to ERACOM once a week, to keep learning about diverse design theories and practices.
