About me
I’m a graduate in Textile Design, who applies narrative themes to create high-end fashion fabrics. Specialising in a combination of techniques including CAD embroidery, Digital print, Heat Press and etching, as well as laser cutting embellishments, I create striking motifs inspired by narratives, or perhaps subjects with an organic theme. My motifs are then translated from detailed, illustrative, lively drawings into digital prints using Photoshop or embroidery designs using the Wilcom software.
Projects
  • On the shore
On the shoreFor this project I took ideas from the natural shapes and objects found along the shores such as shells, seaweed, pebbles, rocks, shapes in sand, and the formation of waves crashing onto the shore.
  • Fables in Fabirc
Fables in FabircIn Cressida’s most recent work she has been inspired by Aesop’s Fables - short and seemingly simple stories that convey complex messages. She was drawn to the proverbs that end every story, which can still be heard in daily life today. The fashion collection has been created through the use of illustrative embroidery to create the scenes. Applique is has used to build block shapes and then embellished on top to add texture . Stitch and digital print have creating the scenery as if in a theatre.
  • Stranded at sea - Life of Pi
Stranded at sea - Life of PiDuring this project I examined the film Life of Pi, as well as drawing inspiration from the book. Various scenes from the film, based on land and at sea, aided the construction of bright and magical images evocative of the Pacific Ocean.
