I was responsible for ensuring The Official Ferrari Magazine’s print and digital channels, one-off books, new titles and other commercial activities followed schedule, were produced according to brief and within budget. I managed the editorial team and liaised with the production department for any editorial, repro, print and distribution matter. I set up, adapted and managed the editorial calendar and workflow, producing, commissioning and editing content, sending pages to repro, signing off proofs and final PDFs, uploading content and optimising SEO. I controlled and managed the editorial and digital budgets, issuing forecasts and profit reports, and created estimates for prospective print and digital projects. I was responsible for approving invoices, expenses and petty cash. I commissioned writers, photographers and videographers, negotiated fees, terms and rights.
I controlled and managed the magazine and website budgets, approved all invoices and timesheets. I monitored the production schedule and editorial workflow, made sure the magazine, supplements, branded products and content for the website were printed and produced on time and within budget. I set up a clear commissioning structure and streamlined payment processes. I implemented risk assessment procedures and secured and renewed licences and rights agreements for all regular contributors.
I set up the production and editorial schedules, commissioning and chasing copy. I managed a senior sub-editor and a deputy production editor, plus two regular freelance sub-editors. I checked all copy grammatically, factually, legally and according to layout and house style, writing and rewriting copy, headlines, sells and coverlines. I set up all editorial deadlines for internal and external contributors and section editors, created daily status reports and ran weekly planning meetings. I liaised with internal and external repro houses, logging and tracking files, layouts, proofs and PDFs. I was responsible for all changes to editorial pages, and signed off every page in the magazine and supplements, plus marketing and promotional features.
