About me
Hello, I'm Daniel! I have been working freelance since 2015 designing printed and online material for clients and producing and selling printed artwork. My design ethos is "Simple. Bold. Creative" and I focus on combining simple forms and colour to create work that has a high impact. I am currently studying for an MA degree in Design, in which I am further exploring and developing my own style and technical skills. I am always looking for opportunities to work with and collaborate with new people and I would love to hear from you.
Projects
  • The Darwin Shrewsbury Trail
The Darwin Shrewsbury TrailI was asked to redesign the cover artwork of the Darwin Trail Booklet to bring more colour into the front and back to make it bold and eye-catching. I used a very simple design to resemble fossils in order to relate nicely with Darwin's theories on evolution and a striking orange colour to catch people's attention. As the booklet is A6 in size it was important to create a design that had instant impact when surrounded by other booklets.
  • Complex Forms
Complex Forms'Complex Forms' was a project I worked on for my masters degree in Design Practice. It explored the possibilities of using stripped back graphic design elements, such as shape and colour, to communicate complex issues. As part of the project I created six original designs based on words related to mental health and mindfulness; Breathe, Anxiety, Acceptance, Stress, Present, Pain. I also created a book which featured the original artwork, original haiku poetry written by me and mindfulness medita
  • The Hive Rebranding
The Hive RebrandingI worked closely with DBC Studio on this rebranding project. Having worked extensively with The Hive on design work in the past, I was able to help guide the direction of the new branding. I worked with DBC Studios from the ideas stage right through to the final stages and had input on the final designs.
  • Sally to Shay Book
Sally to Shay BookI was approached by Figtree Industries to create a book cover and chapter headings for an autobiographical account of a person's transition from Sally to Shay. Shay had a set of imagery they particularly wanted to use for the front cover, I worked with that to create a minimal yet impactful cover that they felt captured their personal story.
  • DASH'S Top 10 Tips
DASH'S Top 10 TipsDASH (Disability Arts Shropshire) approached me to design a bold, minimal and accessible handbook for artists, providing information about funding applications. We worked together on creating a design that had plenty of illustrations, with easy legibility and an online read aloud version.
  • Shrewsbury Fact Banners
Shrewsbury Fact BannersI was asked by the client, Shrewsbury Business Improvement District to design a series of bold, eye-catching banners in my style that would be hung across the town. The banners provide interesting facts about Shrewsbury and I also created related graphics for social media use.

I am currently completing a Masters degree in design. As part of my final project I am exploring the connection we have with simple graphic design elements such as shape and colour, and how these can be used to create a simple visual language that is largely accessible across the western world.
