About me
I am a media professional active in journalism, film studies and video production. I currently work as a foreign correspondent for the EU-funded press agency Cineuropa, where I regularly write about Irish and European cinemas. I provide extensive coverage of international film events, such as the Berlinale, Strasbourg’s Lux Prize, Cork Film Festival, Serbia’s Palić Film Festival, Galway Film Fleadh, Venice Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, Baltic Sea Docs, IndieCork, Amsterdam’s IDFA and many others. Moreover, my bylines appeared on other international outlets, such as Canada's POV Magazine, Switzerland's Film Explorer, The Location Guide, Fabrique Du Cinéma, Cinecittà News, the Independent Cinema Office's blog, The Calvert Journal and Film Ireland. I am interested in covering film, media and culture topics with a special focus on Ireland, the UK and the EU. I am also a member of FEDEORA (Federation of Film Critics of Europe and the Mediterranean) and NECS (European Network for Cinema and Media Studies). Over the last ten years, I have been working across different creative and cultural industries in Italy, Ireland and Estonia – you can have a look at my full CV here: https://docdro.id/pT7Qa45. Finally, I am a PhD Excellence Scholar in Film and Screen Media at University College Cork. My research project comprises the writing of an academic dissertation and the making of a feature-length documentary film. I am an External Examiner in Film Studies for the International Baccalaureate. I have been lecturing and holding conferences in Italy, France, Ireland, Latvia and Poland.

The creation, presentation and study of film requires courage, passion and curiosity: courage to create individually and as part of a team, to explore ideas through action and harness the imagination, and to experiment; passion to communicate and to act communally, and to research and formulate ideas eloquently; curiosity about self and others and the world, about different traditions, techniques and knowledge, about the past and the future, and about the limitless possibilities of human expression through the art form. At the core of the IB film course lies a concern with clarity of understanding, critical thinking, reflective analysis, effective involvement and imaginative synthesis that is achieved through practical engagement in the art and craft of film.
