- Silk Hand Woven CarpetHEREKE CARPETS ARE PRODUCED ONLY IN HEREKE, A COASTAL TOWN 60 KM AWAY TO ISTANBUL ?N TURKIYE. It is a super thin original Hereke carpet. Hereke carpets are produced only in Hereke, a coastal town 60 km away to Istanbul in Turkey. The materials used are a mixture of silk, wool and cotton, and sometimes gold and silver threads. Dolmabahce in the palace the Ottoman Sultans would present the Hereke carpets to the elite royal members, aristocracy and statesmen who came to the visit. Hereke carpet
