Education
K
K
Bachelor of Arts (BA) KLC School of Design
- London, United Kingdom
Before entering the Design world, I completed my degree and graduated with a BA Honours at KLC School of Design. I was exposed to a wide range of design philosophies but of particular interest was the Planning and Development of the interiors which were not only attractive but practical and flexible especially when the space was limited, and creating a Unique Selling Point to ensure consistency as well as a clear design that was cohesive to the branding.
There is nothing I love more than working with other engaged individuals towards a common goal, creating a unique design journey that has been tailored for the client, and tailoring each experience to each individual, which I believe is incredibly important, especially within this industry. I am a firm believer in the importance of collaboration. I love working with a team to achieve a joint goal.
I’m a very collaborative individual, and I have always enjoyed working with like-minded, engaged individuals towards a common goal. Within collaborative projects, I have had the opportunity to direct, as well as working with a variety of people who are motivated by diverse creative tasks, which I believe is essential for this industry as it can help push a project as everyone can interpret briefs differently, which can strengthen ideas and concepts and take them to the next level.
I’m thorough and tenacious. When I’m on a project, I keep track of the details. Because I have a comprehensive understanding of the elements that go into delivering a project, I can spot the essentials and ensure deadlines are met.
Another skill I would like to address is my ability to pick up new software skills quickly. I am very confident in using SketchUp, Photoshop, and AutoCAD to bring renders and floor plans to life. I started pushing the boundaries of what it could do with these software’s as soon as I could and I am excited about applying my skills and abilities in this area for the benefit of future clients.
Personally speaking, receiving constructive criticism is a strength of mine. I do not take it personally or negatively. Instead, I apply the criticism and look at how I can move forward and implement it into my work.
My main focus for these early stages of my career is to be able to put into practice the experiences I have enjoyed while studying at KLC. At the same time, I would like to challenge myself to develop my knowledge and understanding of the industry.
Another important aspect of my career is to ensure awareness of current trends and brands but not necessarily follow them slavishly to ensure I can offer and deliver a diverse range of designs to clients, to suit their own specific requirements, as well as producing a design process that is also enjoyable for the clients.
I would be unhappy if a client walked away feeling like they had not been listened to or if their needs had not been met. I believe that excellent customer service is essential. Creating a relationship and trust with the client is key to completing successful projects.
In addition, if I was not producing a variety of designs to a high standard and pushing myself and my work to stand out, I would feel as though I would not be moving forward and challenging myself within the workplace and the team.
