- Don’t leave them in doubtWe share the perspective of a Scottish NHS Blood and Transplant Specialist Nurse approaching a potential donor family, highlighting the importance of making and sharing your organ and tissue donation decision, to ensure loved ones are not left in any doubt about your choice, and help to ensure your decision is honored.
- Get more cosy spots in your homeDoug, the knitted draught excluder, who is the face of all things about home energy now has a friend. Kat the cat knows where all the cosiest and warmest places in the home are. She tells us how to get free and impartial advice on how you can reduce your heating bills and get energy efficient home improvements by contacting Home Energy Scotland.
- Let’s do Net-ZeroThe Programme For Government 2020/21 outlines Scotland’s commitment to renewal in the wake of the pandemic in a way that puts a green recovery at the heart of economic recovery. This means showing Scotland’s differentiating approach to tackling climate change - i.e. the Government’s commitment to Just Transition and putting fairness and people at the centre, ensuring no one is left behind as we move collectively to net-zero.
- Heard about the law change?Every home in Scotland must have interlinked fire alarms. Interlinked means if one goes off, they all go off, so you will always hear an alarm wherever you are in your home. The new law has come about because of the Grenfell fire in London in 2017, and it applies to all Scottish homes.
- Worship at the alter of horrorTempleton Religion Trust has awarded a grant to Dr Jonathan Greenaway, a researcher in theology and horror. His project will investigate how the popular genre of horror informs the spiritual beliefs of its fans, and how religious ideas circulate through this subculture.
- We don’t do ‘Eureka’ momentsMeet Sparky. Sparky fronts the latest #AlwaysInnovating campaign for IFPMA (The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations - the industry body that represents the global pharmaceutical industry. The campaign aims to show that developing a new medicine or vaccine is not the result of a single ‘eureka’ moment - like a lightbulb suddenly switching on.
