Lamplight Press is the UK’s first student-led, non-profit publishing house that publishes a publication each year. As Managing Editor of the press, my role was to oversee all operations (design, copy-editing, sourcing writers, marketing and promoting the final product) as well as steering the direction of the press from the conception of a publication all the way to the final sale.
As a Student Ambassador, my role is to support and represent the University in the running of promotional and outreach events. My role is to discuss the University and confidently present my university experience and student experience to groups.
I written articles for both print and the online section of Loughborough University's student-run publication, Label magazine. I have written articles for the Culture, Politics, News, Features and Student Struggle sections of Label. I have also contributed the majority of ideas for my articles following audience demand , such as the explainer article on the 2016 US Election, which aided many readers understand how the American electoral system works (all articles available on request). I was also nominated for Label’s best volunteer writer award at the LSU Media Awards 2018.
My role involved liaising with other societies and committees in the LSU to collaborate on projects and events, developing relationships with external organisations to collaborate on projects and events and working closely with the Campaigns & Events Officers by helping them reach new groups of students.
Graduated top of my class with a first-class degree in English awarded from Loughborough University. Upon graduated, I was awarded the only departmental awards: The English Special Prize for achievement and also The Leicester Literary and Philosophical Society for the best dissertation project in the year.
