Recent graduate at Arts University Bournemouth and founder / owner of 995DESIGNS.
The passion for a creative role has always been with me, but it was only three years ago that I decided to pursue it at an academic level.
What followed was a two year Higher National Diploma course at Bournemouth and Poole college, achieving a double distinction and then a top up year at Arts University Bournemouth (Final grade pending).
Whilst studying I decided to pursue freelance work, initially working under the name “Cowan Creations”, I found the name and approach lacking in direction and professionalism.
It was only towards the end of my HnD that I reassessed where I wanted to go with my business and what I wanted to offer to clients, and from that, 995DESIGNS was born.
Projects
- Refreshing nostalgiaA dream collaboration project with Jimmy’s Iced Coffee with the intention of creating a limited edition “Salted Caramel” flavoured iced coffee product line both as a traditional carton and a new glass bottle with 1% of the profits going towards NHS Charities Together. The design itself focuses on the community of Bournemouth, bringing people together in times of a crisis, just like the “good old days”.
- Penguin Student Design Awards - Book cover redesignEach year, Penguin holds a design competition where they encourage students to redesign a famous book, from the front cover to the spine and back, each book has it’s own genre and style which added to the complexity of this project, this year I chose to redesign “The Night Manager” by John Le Carré. The book cover was a compilation of all my previous designs, the front cover was a brush stroke finish, to highlight the idea that spy work is dangerous and rough, this finish entices the reader

MJModelsUK needed a fresh new site for their model agency to promote models, events and competitions.
After several initial meetings discussing the look and feel to MJModels, we agreed that formal fonts and black and white theme would be the perfect style to represent what MJModels had to offer.
Once we'd edited the photos and included the gallery, we decided what other features would be beneficial to the site.
The biggest aspects that MJ wanted to include in his site was a chat function, a contact page, testimonials and site analytics.
With these requests in mind we set about including a variety of plugins as well as hand designed elements to bring the site together.

Website DesignNordic Walking Fit

Dorset based fitness company Nordic Walking Fit needed a new website to promote news, blogs as well as a real time walking schedule so new and existing clients could get everything they needed whilst on the go or at home.
Nordic Walking Fit already had a strong branding guideline, their fonts and colours were eye catching and unique and I wanted to showcase that on a faster, sleeker and more modern website.
The pages were designed with this unique style in mind and resulted in a beautiful merge of old and new styles.
