For this position I took part in a rigorous two-week training program where I was taught the intricacies of hospitality, from psychological influences, to physically serving tables. In those weeks I had to learn the content food and drink menus, as well as the taste, ingredients, origin, context and histories of each item. I also learned how to pair wine with meals and courses with each other. Retaining information so quickly is a skill I didn’t know I had until this job. Overall, this job has completely refined my waiting knowledge and skills and taught me to stay on the line between friendly and fine-dining professionalism.

; I worked mainly as bar staff making a wide range of cocktails and occasionally waitressing on the floor. Each role at Slug & Lettuce has different responsibilities. While working on the floor I was responsible for the complete service of many tables of customers to insure they enjoyed themselves to the maximum. On the bar I had to work with speed and precision to ensure everyone was served as quickly as possible but with high quality cocktails.
