I'm Jess, a Totnes-based Graphic Designer/Artist, working in a shared studio in a community arts space. I'd describe my work as visual storytelling; to evoke a feeling of recognition. Themes I use in my work include light and shade, nostalgia and mythic concepts. Styles I use to execute these themes include simplistic, miniature and motif based designs and illustrations. I use both analogue and digital mediums tailored to the project. Design and illustration applications that appeal to me are non-traditional arts spaces; subtly integrated into people’s everyday lives.
Projects
- knead peace projectAndrew Green founded the Knead Peace Project inspired by Anna Makievska and The Bakehouse, Kyiv. They baked day and night to support people throughout the Ukrainian conflict. Andrew decided to create 'Knead Peace' - a very special baking recipe book in support of Ukraine. The recipes have been donated by masterful chefs and bakers including The River Café and Yotam Ottolenghi.

This year I have worked on developing my illustration journey. Specifically I have collaborated on the Knead Peace Cookbook, which really set the tone for the types of projects I like to get involved in.
