About me
Otherwise known as Tilly Mint. I am a freelance artist with managerial experience in events and retail. I work in a variety of mediums and like to explore the alchemic process of painting. Focusing on texture and motion. Always fascinated by the relationship between the microcosm and macrocosm. My aim is to journey towards art as a therapy and would like to find a creative role to support this.

  • Manager and Artist at Mimm Collective
Manager and Artist at Mimm CollectiveI started out as an intern for Mimm during my second year of university. From the start I was given creative freedom within the brand. My roles were mainly creative with some promotional experience. I would create artworks for the shop and events and would also be responsible for selecting local artists to work with. I curated many of the events that we held in Nottingham. The events would showcase the work of local artists an in doing so would create a sensory experience for the party goers. Myself and other street artists such as Philth, painted live at the events. We played around with the live art so it wouldn't become too repetitive. We created a completely different feel by painting onto light boxes, found objects and walls. Our aim was to completely transform a space, making it unrecognisable. We used installation and projection to help achieve this. A team of artists would create 3d boards which they would project onto using 3d projection mapping. The movement of the projection would correspond to the music playing. We didn't have themes for the night but we were interested in the idea of communicating as a collective through the work we made. The event was a way to show this conversation between artists and allow people to be a part of that. Response to the work is what enabled us to grow. As the events grew, we were approached by more and more artists wanted to be involved. So in 2014 me and Nathaniel (brand owner) set up the Mimm Collective. An idea that we had both been working towards after watching documentary, Beautiful Losers. Graduating from University, I became manager at Mimm. My role was to manage the collective, shop, creative events and manage social media for the collective. The mimm collective family by this point, had 20 members, We would meet once a fort night to discuss creative ideas for the events and to work on projects. We collaborated both inside and outside of the collective and as a group became a respected part of the Nottingham creative scene. Since we have worked with Sneak and Peaks, City of colours and Soundwave festival. I gained a lot of experiment in this role. Mainly with marketing and PR. I worked closely with Nathaniel who at the time was putting events on with names like Giles Peterson, Nightmares on Wax, Mr Scruff, Eglo Records and many more.
