About me
Josie Hunt is a photographer whose practice focuses on human interaction and communication. Her work involves a combination of the street and the studio as she explores instances of the everyday through the process of re-contextualisation. Her practice emphasises the often-undervalued qualities of the mundane by presenting them as art. It proves that what is beyond our frame of awareness and appreciation is just as important as what is within it.
Projects
  • The Minimal Gesture
The Minimal GestureThis particular project explores human interaction and communication through body language and gesture and how they are used in everyday environments. Gesturing and body language are crucial parts of communication. However, because they are usually spontaneous movements that are done without thought, we tend not to really acknowledge the significance of them. This project draws attention to gestures and body language by highlighting their importance in everyday communication.
  • Generations
GenerationsThis is one of my university projects from 2017 which explores the generations within my own family as I follow the journey of the redhead gene in my family.
  • Ephemerality
EphemeralityThis project is an ongoing project that I keep revisiting which explores the relationship between light and space. It comments on the ephemeral quality of light and how it can naturally transform a space within seconds.

    Manchester, United KingdomPart Time
I currently work in hospitality as an operation assistant at Manchester Conference Centre and Pendulum Hotel. Here I have a variety of different jobs and responsibilities, so I have to be organised and be prepared to adapt to situations. For example, I could be working on the bar which provides me with till experience, or I could be working on the breakfast buffet where I’d be working effectively in a team to ensure that the customers have a great start to their day. I am able to work under pressure as this is required when I am the bartender at the conference centre and hotel. I am also comfortable working to deadlines since I know how to prioritise and organise myself so I can complete jobs efficiently and to the highest possible standard.
