About me
Brought up in Greece till the age of sixteen, Katerina moved to England to continue her studies in 2011 . Passionate for craft, illustration and editorial design, she is now a Graphic Design student in Nottingham. 'Through graphic design, I enjoy problem solving and delivering a message to a certain audience through my creativity and am not afraid to challenge myself with using new techniques, technologies or materials. I find it important however, to be able to educate the public or provoke a certain message using my creativity, other than just use it to persuade someone to buy a product off the shelf.'.
Projects
  • DO THE GREEN THING
DO THE GREEN THINGWith Summer coming up and many holidays being booked up, a great and simple way to go green is choosing to have an e-ticket than print out your booking on a couple of sheets of paper that will eventually end up up in the bin. The cost of processing a paper ticket is approximately £10, while processing an e-ticket costs only £1.
  • Die Mauer, Children's Book
Die Mauer, Children's BookThe storybook is based around two good friends called Lena and Niklas who would spend their days playing in the streets in central Berlin. One day however they got divided by a fence, which grew into a wall, which then grew into an even taller wall till they could no longer see each other. The story unfolds with how the different sides of the cities developed and eventally reuniting again at the end creating today’s Berlin.
  • Earbird, Dementia Tech Branding
Earbird, Dementia Tech BrandingThe brief was to create, name and brand a piece of wearable piece of technology for dementia patients. Earbird is an earpiece that can receive prompt recorded reminders sent via an app controlled by the carer or relative. It also includes a GPS system so it can track down the patient’s location. I created two versions; the hoopoe and the magpie. The magpie also includes a hearing aid system for the patients who they suffer from hearing problems, which is quite common in the elderly. My language and visuals have been inspired by birds, since they are known to come in pairs and tend to look after each other.
