During these three months Interning at Roksanda I worked with the embroidery and surface design team. This allowed me to further my practice and background in textiles, as well as quickly improving on my hand sewing skills. I was able to join the team at the start of the season so I was able to understand and oversea the process of a collection from start to finish. Responsibilities included developing ideas through sampling and experimenting with embroidery samples as well as carrying out further research for inspiration. I was given great responsibilities during show time by working on the embroidery final collection pieces and providing finishing touches. This gave me the opportunity to work up close with the collection and understand quality standards as well as working with urgency towards a deadline. My hand sewing has improved a lot working here and I have gained so many new skills from the Roksanda team, which will help me further my education in design during Senior thesis Collection coming up. Other tasks given during this time included maintaining studio standards, arranging pick ups and drop offs on orders and supplies as well as preparing for the AW16/17 Show, which I was able to assist by dressing models and helping backstage. Part-Time Sales Associate while studying at Parsons NYC. I worked at the FlatIron store as a sales associate whilst studying for my degree towards fashion design. Prior to this, I had a few years retail experience with Gap, which helped me tremendously in setting me up for this position. Working in a new market selling luxury goods was new to me and so my previous training helped me in setting myself up in this role and pushing forward what I had previously learnt. I was able to study the differences between high street stores and luxury stores as well as learn about target markets and how best to sell to them. Weekly goals and targets allowed me to work towards deadlines and work with urgency to meet these goals. Building a client base was also key in this role in order to maintain good sales and a secure customer base. I was able to meet set targets given, work towards goals, provide excellent customer service, maintain store standards as well as providing styling for clients.
