About me
Fascinated in the relationship between brands, emotion and experience. I wish to work across the artificial boundary between creativity and hospitality, considering the elements of compassion, humour and integrity when curating a sensory brand experience. I realise the importance of telling a brand story through detail of design and consistency of concept.
‘Katyand.com’ is a collection of online case studies which explore the small things that marry together to create the ultimate experience within the hospitality Industry.
I am continually curious and constantly looking to take on new perspectives and rewarding challenges.
Projects
- Map of EmotionConcept development & Exhibition Design Investigating colour theory as medium for mapping my emotion throughout a 48 hour trip up the East Coast of Scotland. Handselecting a variety of different plates, inspired by the crockery sets found in my host, Betty’s house. Each plate tells a different story through form, colour & positioning in the exhibition.
- Lifestory Window DisplayCurating and producing a window display for Lifestory, a scandinavian / Japanese inspired homewards store in Edinburgh. Aiming to excite, intrigue & entice the viewer into store. The main concept behind the window display was the idea of Illusions. Taking inspiration from within store with the diagonal forms, colour palettes and patterns found throughout their product ranges. Using suspended lighting on cords acts as the central focus to the display, visually supported by the optical flooring & pedestal adding to the illusion.
