Projects
  • Material Properties
Material Properties'Material properties' interrogates the idea of creating new edible materials from disposed organic matter. I reused red peppers’ skin, which is usually disposed by people who are intolerant to it; and created new food vessels and containers. The unsustainability of the food industry is affecting our daily lives. How to make people become more conscious and think about reusing organic material for future products?
  • Cosmetica
Cosmetica'Cosmetica' comes from the Greek word kosmetike 'technique for ornamentation', are care substances to enhance the appearance. This project explores the idea of beautifying women of tomorrow by offering a set of tools that allows a new experience of making powdered cosmetics using local materials left by human exploitation. I believe that we will become collectors and makers again, in order to satisfy our basic needs. The idea of going outdoors, explore the environment and use local resources such as natural charcoal, limestone and earthy pigments from iron oxide soils, and make an earthy and natural palette for cosmetics. This project was developed on the limestone island of Portland in England. An incredible adventure into the world of stone carving, geology and craft, using ancient tools for shaping limestone rocks.
  • DIY COLOUR RECIPE BOOK
DIY COLOUR RECIPE BOOKThe DIY Colour Recipe Book tells the story of the Colour Provenance palette, 8 ancient colours: Whiteshell, Saffron, Ochre, Verdigris, Malachite, Azurite, Mummy Brown and Lamp Black. It shows key tools, secrets and my experience recreating these colours. The revival of historical recipes for making colour such as Cennino Cennini's 'Il libro dell'Arte' and ancient Egyptian manuscripts, were part of the process and inspiration. This recipe book is a useful handbook for people to make and experiment with colour. For instance, recreating green from malachite, considered to be the first green ever used by humanity or white from ostrich eggshells, which was commonly used by Egyptians and even mummies for making an extinct colour 'Mummy Brown'. This book will take you through a fascinating journey into the past to help us understand and appreciate colour in a different way today.
