About me
London based product designer who is passionate about packaging design. She loves taking on new design projects that allow her to explore lots of different structural and graphic solutions. However, she also likes exploring various avenues of product design.
Projects
  • Barclays design floor
Barclays design floorDuring an internship with Barclays design team, within the group of interns, we had to re-design an area of the design floor that would act as a showcase space for designers work, but also a presentation area and work area for the designers. My part in the project was to design a scale model of the redesigned space. I completed the scale model with Jena Kitley and Sandika Dhawan. The main entrance into the design floor would reveal bright wayfinding to help the visitors or designers find which area they needed to go to. During events, if needed, posters that would be hung on a rail from the ceiling could be pulled out to show any work that needed to be presented on the day. Once the event was over, the posters could be moved back to the end of the rail out of the way. The 'our talent' space on the design floor was really to celebrate designers' successes outside of work. It gave them a chance to showcase any of their work they completed outside of Barclays, so other staff could get to know more about them. We also incorporated a 'family tree' for all of the employees. This would be for visitors but also for designers to get to know who else works on their floor.
  • Soled
SoledThis project was a third year collaboration project. I worked with two of my friends, Alani Fadzil and Jena Kitley to create ‘Soled.’ The idea was to create a template that would allow people from third world countries to create their own shoes from local materials. We chose Rwanda as our case study, and after thorough research, we found that tyres and burlap sacks were two materials they had in abundance; due to tyres from first world countries being sent over there, and burlap sacks were used to import and export their produce.
  • Valentines on the Eurostar
Valentines on the EurostarThis project was to design a promotional product for valentines on the Eurostar. My idea was to design a gift collection that could be purchased with tickets so that the valentine would receive one gift everyday for five days on the lead up to their romantic getaway.

  • Soled
SoledThis was a collaborative project completed alongside Alani Fadzil and Lauren Joseph. The project involved creating a template for people in less developed countries to make their own footwear using local materials available to them. The case study chosen was Rwanda, even though this is one of the smallest countries in Africa it is one of the most densely populated. From thorough research it became apparent that a lack of footwear was leading to diseases caught through the feet. Rwanda has an abundance of tyres, a durable, flexible, waterproof material, which was suitable to be used for the sole of the shoe. Burlap sacks (used to import and export their produce) and hemp rope were other accessible materials that would be used to complete the footwear. Through many design alterations and product testing the footwear was developed to reach a final design. The template, created from recyclable polypropylene, would be placed directly on the cut tyre piece. The template shows a variety of shoe sizes, the user can find their shoe size by placing their foot on the template. Once their shoe size is determined, the user can follow the step by step illustrations and using the list of accessible tools to cut out the sole of the shoe. After the sole has been cut out, there are further instructions to make the back strap from the burlap sacks, sewn using hemp rope. Local people would be shown how to make the shoe and this information would be passed on throughout the community, and thus creating business. There are unlimited possibilities as to the materials they could use, the tyres, burlap sacks and hemp rope are just a starting point, they can alter the design and materials to their own preference.

Work history
    Design Intern
     -
I had an internship with Barclays for two months, before I began my third year of University. I was given the chance to work with their design language team and I was asked to design a promotional item for them. I also had the chance to work with one of my colleagues on a booklet design for new employees.

This was an event that took place in my University, where different designers from places such as Barclays, would come in and talk about their journey in the design world and how they got there. There was a competition sent out to all product design students to design an award that could be given to each designer after they had given their speech. Fortunately, I won this competition, and was given a budget to produce my product.
