I am a British visual artist living and working in the UK. I graduated from London Southbank University with a first-class Honours Degree in Film, focusing my dissertation on "The External Representation of the Psyche in Visual Art”. I work to make the invisible qualities of the mind and soul visible through photographic self-portraits taken through an expressionist lens. My work deals with Mental health, the subconscious and multiplicity.
I am interested in art as a means of conveying the invisible qualities of mental health, which I explore through my work as an artist and curator.
Projects
- Scream of the Butterfly2022 (A collection of self-portraits) Butterflies are often associated with a whimsical beauty but one rarely considers the brutal process the creature goes through to become that way. Caterpillars retreat into their cocoons and within the darkness begin to digest themselves, a painful act which we do not see. - Through the Minds Eye2020-2021 In this series of surreal self-portraits, distortion is used to convey complex emotions and sensations which exist beyond the capabilities of the naked eye. These self-portraits imagine what it would be like to see through the mind's eye, deconstructing the persona and witnessing the psyche manifest itself. My exploration of the female gaze encompasses the emotions of the female into the external representation of the body. By re-claiming the female image, I strive to empower women
