My name is Megan London and I am a recent graduate from the University of the Arts London, Graphic and Media Design course.
I am a conceptual thinker and have a key interest in producing work that pushes the boundaries for what a brand is expected to create.
The role of various attributes of graphic design in branding is something I feel I have always had a natural understanding of, as well as a passion for printed medium.
I believe that with constant access to social media, the role of the print publication has changed. They are no longer the places you find first glimpses of new trends or styles, but provide in-depth discussions and alternative thoughts on mainstream topics.
I believe that many large brands today should be using their platforms as a means to spread awareness about various issues, and I hope to be a part of this change.
During my degree, many of my projects revolved around the idea of making the most of a brands platform, in creating work that pushes these boundaries whilst retaining the essence of a brands ethos.
I am a highly motivated person and plan to achieve great things in my career. Having recently completed my degree, I am devoted to learning as much as I can, developing my skill set and learning new techniques and ways of designing.
Projects
- Project 04The production of a physical media kit for British Vogue, intended to be distributed to potential advertisers, featuring information regarding the brands current ethos as well as recent topics that have been covered. Produced in a print form in order to convey the importance of print to the publication.
- Project 03The production of a brand image for the supposed collaboration between Vogue and Vice Media, including the planning of a launch event and creation of graphic resources, covering the guest list, location choices and evening entertainment, including the production of digital promotional pieces for newsletters, instagram posts and email invitations. A1 promotional poster for launch event at the White Cube gallery;
- Project 02The production of a hybrid-print piece intended to convey and highlight the various design aspects that make up different print productions identities. For this project I took 3 very different print productions (Good Trouble, No Mans Land and Hello! magazine) and re-made them containing the same sourced information and imagery, but displayed in the style of each appropriate publication. I joined Scotch and Soda during a gap year from University where I earned the trust of becoming key holder, a position that included being responsible for counting and preparing the tills at the start and end of each day, having access to the safe, being reliable to start on time and prepare the store before colleagues arrive, the assisting of group morning learning sessions and the overseeing of colleagues when managers were absent. As a Stylist, my role involved being able to show the initiative to appropriately serve each customer, despite the request, in a personal way. This position requires the confidence to interact with customers and provide multiple alternatives for outfits dependent on event, location and the customers personal preferences.
