Having recently graduated with a BA (Hons) and Fda degree in Surface Design from LCC, Univeristy of the Arts London. Mitra’s work aims to transform the masculine and industrial characteristics of mechanical forms into more decorative, feminine designs influenced by Art Deco. The Designs are generated by creating imagery from observational drawings and then experimenting with printmaking techniques and handcraft in order to create a collection of designs that are open to interpretation and that may be used in an interior setting. Mitra uses a range of mixed mediums and surfaces such as wood and leather to create a variety of textures and shapes that contribute to a mechanical structure, with the intention of exposing intricate details that are visible within these constructions to signify a broader and alternative representation of mechanics.
