I’m a freelance copywriter and editor based in London. My recent clients include The Open University, CIPD, Igloo Books and Stratton Craig. Supported the Online Project Producers (OpenLearn) in the production of innovative digital content for OpenLearn website, the home of free learning from the Open University. -Created, edited and published academic articles, podcasts and broadcast content on OpenLearn using the Drupal CMS tool. -Co-managed the Open University OpenLearn YouTube account, creating playlists, transcripts and metadata for the video content. -Provided creative assistance to Open Project Producer for on-going projects and documentaries for broadcast.
Igloo Books Sept 2016–present Provide copy, proofread new titles and generate cookery indexes on adult reference titles and creative non-fiction. -Supply copy on a diverse range of subjects for the adult reference and cookery titles, including F1, Serial Killers and Greatest Sporting Moments. -Edited and sourced new imagery for over 1,500 recipes for the ‘Everyday Cooking’ series. -Supply alphabetised indexes for a range of cookbooks, including both title and ingredient indexes.
Worked as Editor on adult reference and cookery titles for a fast growing, multi-award winning mass-market book publisher. Key responsibilities: -Commission packagers, authors and designers to create brand-new adult reference titles with fresh, exciting and accessible content to suit our market. -Work to tight deadlines, overseeing the development of each series and ensure key dates are met in order to meet shipping and printing requirements. -Project manage new books from concept through to print-ready files. -Work with budgets and retrieve quotes from outside contributors. -Create clear and concise briefs and schedules, maintaining regular communication with third parties, in-house designers and managing editors. -Develop relationships with image agencies, packagers and freelancers to ensure the creative brief is understood and the final files adhere to the brief. I am a passionate advocate for education and believe each and every child should have access to books and educational resources. In November 2014, I founded a language book scheme at IglooBooks that donates excess stock to local SureStart centres. This involves contacting customers, dealing with book requests and arranging collection for the books.
