About me
An educator, and creative; passionate about the development of young people, actively working across a range of creative disciplines.
I have 9 years of experience in education. Starting out as a Teaching Assistant, I then made the transition to a full-time Class Teacher, before combining my current role alongside Humanities Lead. A role I have now held for the last 2 years.
Throughout my time working in education I have been a part of teams that have continually seen the year-on-year progression of our students, culminating in a “Good” accreditation from Ofsted in my prior and current schools’ last assessment.
My role as Humanities Lead has led me to curate an ongoing set of activities and learning material for children, as well as monitoring and managing the progress of the subject in the school. Enabling the students to develop not only their subject knowledge but raise the awareness of the diverse and dynamic world we all live in and share.
In addition to my work in education, I am also the co-founder, of BORN N BREAD, a self-funded start-up business I created alongside 4 other Black women from London. The nature of our work stretches across a range of creative fields from music, art, fashion, photography, broadcasting & literature. Working across these fields we have hosted our own self-funded events, host a bi-weekly radio show, self-publish our own Zine, as well as partnering with leading brands and organizations inside the creative fields including; The V&A, Tate Modern, Nike, Soho house, Pernod Ricard & The Royal Academy of Arts, to curate and host a variety of experiential activities.
Our work as a collective has seen us featured in a number of publications from DAZED, The Evening Standard, and Vice, as well as being invited to take part in different speaking engagements, and host community-focused workshops.
The combined experience from both my work in education and with BORN N BREAD has allowed me to develop a plethora of skills that can be transferred across a broad spectrum of industries and different working environments.
My career has been filled with many achievements, including self-published publications, community-focused workshops, being featured in leading art exhibitions and out-of-home media campaigns, and most fulfilling of all, seeing the measurable progress in the children I teach and have taught over the years.
