About me
Rhiarna Dhaliwal is a British-Indian Architectural Designer whose work is characterised by investigations into global environmental and political systems that affect the future of landscapes and ecosystems.
Rhiarna has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture (BA Arch) (2012 – 2015) from Nottingham University and a Master of Arts Degree in Architecture (MA Arch) (2017-2019) from the Royal College of Art in London.
She has worked in design practice for both BDP and RCKa architects (2015 – 2017) attaining a sound knowledge of the built environment focused on planning and environmental considerations for, commercial, residential and community projects.
Rhiarna is a founding member of the all-female design collective Xcessive Aesthetics: a London-based group of interdisciplinary designers and artists who explore topics concerning data networks, digital infrastructure and post-human futures. XA hosted a workshop and installation in collaboration with Theatrum Mundi that opened up discussions on the role of information dissemination and alternative community-based digital networking through Augmented Reality tools in the context of nail salons and the local high street.
Rhiarna took part in the inaugural edition of Sharjah Architecture Triennial (2019), assisting on the project ‘The Sacred Forests of Ethiopia’, an art installation by Ibiye Camp with Emmy Bacharach and David Killingsworth. Rhiarna’s thesis ‘Mines Minerals Magnets’, dissecting the link between global data usage and mineral extraction in Baotou, China was published in the magazine Flash Art International (July-August 2019).

schemes, a mixed-use housing and office project and a house extension.
Notable projects include: PegasusLife Hortsley and PegasusLife Park House.
Produced planning applications, tender packages and initial concept design
and research.
Independently progress with design challenges through the use of BIM & 2D cad.
Design through problem solving whilst meeting the appropriate rules and
regulations set by the government and local authorities.

Whilst studying for her MA in Architecture from the Royal College of Art, London (2017-2019), she explored how the built environment is entangled with pollutants and toxic substances
that are released as a consequence of disruptive technology industries such as data infrastructure.
Her art practice focuses on multi-scalar drawing techniques and animations in order to map and narrate complex systems of relations and territorial conditions whilst utilising architectural interventions to seek future modes of cohabitation between humans and non-humans.
