Today, I help brands build commercial propositions in culture.
But in 2015, I was a DJ looking for tracks in the Identification of Music (IOM) Facebook Group. Identifying, discovering & sharing niche musical knowledge with fellow music nerds. Wired called us “The Human Shazam,” Vice said we were “changing the way people use the internet” & Mixmag named us a “Goliath within the online music community.”
So, in 2019, I entered IOM into the ‘International Music Summit Visionary’ competition, and won. I spent 2 years meeting members, formulating an equitable community-centric business plan.
In 2021, two years on from taking the project full time, I launched www.bump.agency taking its name from when IOM members would ‘BUMP’ [Bump Up My Post] to get their favourite tracks to the top of their feeds.
BUMP's mission? To be the world’s number one music insights agency, harnessing IOM’s global member base to provide local knowledge for brands looking to work in global culture.
Last year, BUMP grew from just myself to 15 employees. We delivered insight & strategy for Kanye West, Atlantic Records, Kickers, Pioneer DJ, Pirate Studios, AIAIAI & Rolling Stone.
Today, my team of culture nerds provide insight at local levels to brands, agencies, labels & tech companies who want a ‘bump’ in the cultural space through our 150,000 IOM community.
