Degree-educated with a work history boasting success in different fields, I have experience and expertise in journalism (NCTJ-qualified) marketing, brand consultancy and digital production. I've helped grow a street food start-up to epic levels of recognition; researched, analysed and documented the best in digital marketing and comms and interviewed and advised the clever people working in that field; honed my writing, PR and contact-building skills over a career in journalism and marketing. A family – a father of one small yet determined boy - I have been inspired by this experience to pursue my passion for podcasting with an independently-created show, Fatherhood, written, edited and produced myself. I joined owner Simon Luard on a mission to grow and cement the brand of his street food start-up. We have expanded from one to three locations and a founding, trusted reputation in the buzzing London street food scene. Maximising the design and brand of two heavily-decorated Citroen H vans we achieved global recognition, with TV spots via CNN and the Food Network plus regular coverage in UK and international newspapers and magazines. Converting this recognition into an online presence we have built a five-figure following on Twitter and Instagram. Oh, and the food isn't half bad!
Repsonsible for researching, analysing and reporting on digital communications trends and best practice. Worked with blue chip companies (Diagnose, BBC, Publicis, Google etc.) through to start-ups and venture capitalists to track and advise on innovative marketing stance in a constantly ‘on’ digital marketplace. Through a print magazine, online news feeds, social media, video, public speaking and face-to-face consultancy, a clear-eyed take on media, trends and strategy was delivered through simple explanation of key data; effective results and by storytelling techniques to illuminate the issue at hand. Day-to-day technical tasks included use of WordPress and social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn; managing databases and distributing online content; tracking marketing reach; video and audio reportage; online and offline research and investigation; building contacts and carrying out interviews; brainstorming consultancy projects and new content; obsessively proof-reading magazine articles.

Strategic planning of promotional work for press, radio and TV alongside health professionals (NHS trusts, private practitioners), working closely with sponsors such as brands (Oral B, Wrigley etc.tc) and high street names (Tesco, Boots etc.) Publication of wide variety of health articles in national and regional papers, best-selling consumer magazines. Generated more than £1.5 million worth of annual earned media coverage through inventive press releases and pitching articles to national media. Co-ordinated media profile for national charity and its two annual health campaigns, National Smile Month and Mouth Cancer Action Month. Maintained three websites with responsibility for content including features, downloadable advisory pamphlets and responding to user feedback

Focus primarily on the Exmouth Journal, helping title to a (percentage) double-digit circulation increase, one of few papers nationwide to achieve such success. Provided dynamic content on paper’s website, producing video journalism and online news copy plus accompanying photographs. Responsible for copy for four titles in Archant South West stable plus quarterly magazine. Contact building field reporting and interviewing across four patch locations. Broke and reported national stories originating on the patch.
