About me
Roxette Cryer is an English Filipino artist living on the coast of South East England. After completing her BA in Illustration she was shortlisted for the Hix Awards in 2018, exhibiting in Hix Gallery 2018 and Coutts Bank 2019. Playful imagery reveals a social theme or issue at a closer look. Themes such as gender stereotyping, dangerous beauty practices, and sport hunting are some of the issues that show up in her art work. Exploration in mark making and other crafts and design such as paper making, printmaking and interiors is always fueling new work and imagination. Roxette is currently working on commission paintings and would love to welcome more freelance projects.

  • Man Up Man Down | Mixed Media Painting
Man Up Man Down | Mixed Media PaintingAcrylic Painting Dimensions 120 x 93.5 cm Man Up Man Down presents itself as a fun and playful image but the deeper meaning reveals the social construct of the male stereotype. Boys are taught to avoid emotion and always show strength, which then leads to deeper issues later on in life. Man Up Man Down is currently unavailable for purchase.
  • Banana Animals
Banana AnimalsAn ongoing series of animal drawings on my own handmade paper, using around 60% banana peel and 40% recycled paper. The animals drawn are found in 'Animals' - a vintage Canadian magazine.
