About me

My name is Samuel Davies, and I'm an aspiring videographer, editor, and DJ. Finishing my degree in English with Film Studies at King's College London, I have lived in both London and California, where I recently made a documentary about sexual assault on college campuses. I have directed music videos for CHARLOTTE and Into the Ark, and continue to feel creatively inspired by my friends and youth culture every day.

• Disparities: Gender Culture and Sexual Assault in Isla VistaDisparities is a documentary that focuses on the gender culture and prevalence of sexual assault at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and in its neighbouring town, Isla Vista. While on a study abroad placement from King's, I sat down with 9 students to discuss a range of gender related issues, including university housing, party culture, the separation of men and women, and the sexual violence that these structures might facilitate. • BUMPER radioBUMPER is a radio show exploring the best in queer music: music made by LGBTQ+ artists, music queering the norm, or music adored by queer audiences. Presented by myself and my friend (and fellow music geek) Joey Levenson, BUMPER follows a loose theme each week, tethering it to a different aspect of queer life. Expect good tunes, occasional tangents, and a lil bit of gushing.

At Southbank Centre, I worked alongside the Festivals and Participation Team on the WHY? Festival 2017. With Education Manager Alice Chesterman as my mentor, I created a documentary about the week-long festival, interviewing the fifteen young activists involved. I also evaluated the project with Annabel Jackson, and worked with other apprentices to manage the festival.
