About me
I am 29 year old art director and designer focused on creating successful, captivating and original brand, web and animation projects. I pride myself on my multi-disciplinary and experimental approach to design and although having trained primarily in the field of graphic design, I possess a breadth of skills throughout the creative arts from moving image to three-dimensional work. My work is inspired by the belief that all of our senses; vision, hearing, touch, taste and smell, where possible can be effectively utilised within design to shape outstanding brand, campaign and communications experiences and perceptions. By applying this broad approach to my work paired with smart design thinking, I aspire to create compelling ideas and memorable creative that cuts through the noise and grabs the audience.
Projects
  • Science: Not Just For Scientists
Science: Not Just For ScientistsThe British Science Association’s (BSA) mission is to put science at the forefront of society and culture making it accessible for all.  Having curated a series of essays bringing voices from inside and outside the scientific world together, BSA came to Neo to bring their collective words to life.  As creative lead on the project I art directed an animation and designed a book containing the essays that would launch their new mission to get more people involved in science. The idea behind the creative explored interesting visual cues and experimented with circular particles – using them to show how different people, moments and ideas can come together to surprising effect. Since the launch the creative has travelled beyond its brief and has been used in further BSA projects such as 100 ideas and a dedicated ‘Not Just For Scientists’ microsite.
  • Here - Brand Design
Here - Brand DesignHere (formerly Brighton and Hove Integrated Care Service) are changing the way healthcare is provided. A year long project transforming the way Here presented it’s innovative ideas to the outside world culminated in a visual brand brief being placed on my desk. As creative lead on the project I began building on the strategic foundations my collegues at Neo had layed out. It was my job to create a brand which reflected their new name, newly articulated purpose, beliefs and commitments and did justice to the innovative and amazing work they do within the healthcare sector. With their purpose ‘Care Unbound - to create more possibilities for care in every moment’ in the forefront of my mind, the concept for the visual brand emerged. Taking the H in the name and unbinding the uprights I created a space for possibilties. A set of icons which inhabit the space not only served as useful visual signposts in communication materials but were designed to reflect the spectrum of ideas and qualities of the organisation and it’s staff.  A bold but friendly typographic style and colour pallette was created that shows credibility but at the same time feels warm and familiar to its users. In the following stages of the rebrand a new photographic style was also required. I art directed a number of shoots with photographer Ali Tollervey that captured the breadth of their work; from the internal staff, their working environment, their partner organisations and their patients. The brief written by myself was to capture ‘real moments’ with ‘real people’ in ‘real situations’, ultimately creating a natural and authentic feel in the photography rather than one that felt staged. Making people feel confortable and catching them unselfconciously was key to a succesful and effective bank of photographs.
