About me
I am a young graphic designer, who has recently successfully undertaken a Masters Degree at London College of Communication. I consider myself highly skilled at photo manipulation, and have a passionate capability for editorial and typographic design. My key skills are graphic design, typography, photography, Photoshop, and stop motion animation.
Projects
  • Skyline of London
Skyline of LondonThis was such an interesting task. I was given a really pixelated piece of artwork and was asked to vectorize it, change some of the colours and rework the layout. There were a few details here and there that I changed because they just weren’t working, also my client wanted it to be a bit more minimalist than it was. I took out City Hall because we both agreed that it was the wrong shape to fit in with all the other buildings. St. Pauls was also a huge change because it looked more like a photograph in the original image than it should have done. I really enjoyed creating something that was totally different to what I normally do, along with playing with colours. It was a fantastic experience.
  • Final Major Project - Masters
Final Major Project - Masters'Room 237' Room 237 is a project which is founded from the film ‘The Shining’. I used a ‘non-dialogue’ scene from the film to show that there is a lot more to film than just speech. Room 237 is entirely speechless, but it holds a lot of information that the viewer still has to take in. I challenged myself to create a typography-based outcome around different aspects to the scene. Each experiment used different bits of information from the scene. Experiment one focused on mapping the area of the room and the movement of the characters. Experiment two was pre-production of the room, using Stanley Kubrick’s summary, and notes of the scene. Experiment three looked at describing the scene. Finally experiment four used concrete poetry to describe the sounds. Focusing on experiment 4, it uses a reference from another scene where Jack has written on a typewriter ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ over and over again. I used my old typewriter from a similar era to his, to create my work, using a thin paper that reflects the same kind of paper that he used. Each piece of paper represented one second of film that the sound was created. Instances where there were multiple sounds in one second, I put the most predominant sound on the top.
  • Draw This Constellation
Draw This ConstellationThis was a social experiment to see whether anyone would be able to draw a constellation and be able to name it, I did this through a little survey of just 25 people. This was a fun experiment that showed that many people weren’t interested or knew very little about constellations to complete the survey. The book that came from the gathered information, it is very simple and displays the information very cleanly. The plain sphere is a map to find the correlations at the right time of year.
  • Circle Cut Out Books
Circle Cut Out BooksUsing some old sketchbook paper, I created some small books that I cut into to make these. I love how the light creates new colour in the books. I cut each circle by hand and without a circle cutter.
  • Project 6/6 - Then & Now CD covers
Project 6/6 - Then & Now CD coversThe premise behind this project was to create an eco-friendly CD cover that still makes for a good design. I felt that using the tracing paper could add to the design because of it’s transparency. To create the Covers I only used one sheet of A4 tracing paper. I felt like this was a great project and I had a lot of fun working on it. I really like the outcomes and the way they work together.
  • Project 5/6 - Typography - Compute & Sunshine
Project 5/6 - Typography - Compute & SunshineThis was the final outcome, it was a really simple little stapled book that showed the whole typeface and it working in a sentence on the opposite page. If I were to do this again I think I would have made a slightly bigger leaflet to give the typeface more space and also put the sentences in different sizes. I really enjoyed this project but was a lot of work. I found making the typefaces took a lot of time, though they really helped my illustrator skills and also made me think how much I really enjoy creating typefaces. I’d love to do it again/develop the typefaces further to see how much I can get out of them.
