About me
I have also published an essay “Tracking the Intersectional Oppression of the black woman in the United States” in Exclamation: An Interdisciplinary Journal. During this experience it was necessary for me to revise my work multiple times. I understand the way to enhance a piece of work, not only from the perspective of an editor giving notes or adjustments, but also from the perspective of the writer who must improve their work. In my spare time I enjoy creating comic strips that are both hand-drawn and created using Adobe Photoshop. I have also inter-railed around Europe and North America and I love experiencing different countries and learning about other cultures.
Projects
  • Tracking the Intersectional Oppression of the black woman in the United States
Tracking the Intersectional Oppression of the black woman in the United StatesMy work tracks the adversity black women faced during slavery and the different ways they were marginalised in the Civil Rights and Woman's Liberation Movement. During this experience, I researched extensively and underwent the peer-reviewing process. I learned how to enhance my work: implementing the changes suggested by editors as well as meticulously checking the details of my writing in time for each deadline.

I coordinate the Character, Environment and Prop department in Modelling and Surfacing. Receiving artwork and notes from client and ensuring that it is viewed by both the modelling and surfacing supervisor before passing on to the artists. I am proficient in Shotgun and am meticulous with uploading all received artwork and feedback. I ensure that all statuses are up to date and that fields are correctly filled, allowing my colleagues from other departments to view an asset and quickly understand its function. I am comfortable designing pages in Shotgun that include specific filters to streamline information. I facilitate dailies with the department supervisors and their teams: creating playlists, taking notes, providing artwork in playlists if required and having bid days to hand. I ensure the artist is aware of their deadline to deliver their next pass of an asset. I organise my team with the correct software and if they experience technical difficulties, I am fast to troubleshoot and log their downtime. I am a clear communicator, liaising with Layout, Rigging, Lighting and Sweatbox so that they are aware of an update to an asset and can ingest accordingly. I also archive the materials received from client to ensure they are backed up and easy to find if necessary. Lastly, I organise meetings with the client to screenshare the team’s work and take note of their feedback.

I compiled interesting information, stories, facts and statistics on the show’s topic. I then identified the most compelling resources and ordered them to suit the structure of the show. For the ‘Fairytales’ show I went further and also wrote the dialogue and jokes within the script and was able to deliver to my client a substantial draft of what would become their polished final show.

Storyboarding for TV film and AnimationEscape Studios

At Escape Studios I learned the key elements of the storyboarding process, beginning with the script and developing into thumbnails, boards and animatic. I was taught the different ways to tell stories using cinematography, gesture drawings and expressions as well as how to break down script pages. I am familiar with the basics of Photoshop, Panel Forge and Premiere. During the course, I created my own project to pitch where I honed my ability to outline a story succinctly and sell a story based on its most captivating part. I learned how concept art, scripts and mood boards are an indispensable way of garnering interest and understanding in your work when you have limited time.
