I see myself as a creative individual with a passion in furthering my recently acquired skills in the working of music and film industry. Day to day, I find importance in learning from processes around me which help me to adapt in different environments, whilst confronting new obstacles and challenges with various perspectives informing my decisions. I have been exerting myself into developing my enquiring eye and ear. My last years have been immersed in film, music and radio; in which I believe the entwined experiences are undivided in a digital age. This passion for creativity was one of the main reasons why I chose to do a BA in Cultural and Creative industries (graduated with 2:1) where I specifically chose topics that would help me in furthering my passion post-graduation. My particular interests were in recognising the complexity of stagnant cultural policy whilst recognising the contemporary issues that arise within the ever-changing and digitised music industry. My work has always existed at an interchange of management and creative direction; I have had to be extremely organised to follow strict deadlines whilst creative innovative and approachable content for the right audience. I am interested in developing my leadership skills in the creative industries and combining creative direction with my expertise in theory about audience acquisition and marketing to develop the right audience for the brand. Telling a story is a captivating way of securing an audience and gaining brand loyalty. Social media platforms have created an accessible platform for consumers, the main challenge marketing faces is making the brand personable with a growing over-informed and desensitised audience. At my last job, I was in charge of creating content for social media streams whilst creating and producing shows. The radio production side of my role was split into pre and post-production. Pre-production entailed structural support of the show, arranging guests, being responsible for live transmission, enabling the right content for the right audience, ensuring the presenters were informed and comfortable, introducing interesting features, controlling exclusive content and involving outsider-media when necessary. Post-production entailed using understanding of CRM to package the show for distribution, enabling the necessary press and market recognition; identifying positive trends for the next show(s). Above this, I was alongside other young employees creating a voice for the brand of the station; this was done through personable tweets; interesting Social Media content and keeping current and involved within our brand identity. My skills in marketing have helped to tie these together as I gain a better insight into branding and the dynamic within the specific audiences.
In my recent role at Radar Radio, I was in charge of creating content for social media streams whilst creating and producing shows. After 6 months of working at the station, I was invited to assist management and overall programming. I was lucky enough to invite M.I.A onto my breakfast show, ahead of rival content release. The community really let me take ownership of my creative ideas and the station engaged within the trust they had for these ideas. I lingered as a strong enough voice to host a month of prime-time breakfast shows with VICE presenter, Alhan Gençay, bringing a war correspondent and inviting industry key figures to inform audiences about contentious issues nice and early in the morning.
