About me

I'm an illustrator and designer with 10+ years experience. I currently work in-house as a graphic designer, previous to this I worked as a web designer/front-end developer, so I'm comfortable designing for both print and web projects. During my career, I've been involved in creating large volumes of artwork for print & web to tight deadlines, as well as being involved in a number of in-house projects & trials including training creation & provision, customer liaison & video production. I'm a member of the Association of Illustrators and currently available for projects, collaborations and commissions. I specialise in bold and bright vector illustrations and character design suitable to any application, but I have an adaptable style and am happy to work across mediums and software applications. I have a particular interest in animation and children's picture books, something I'm currently working on developing further for my portfolio. I'm particularly interested in opportunities for representation and illustration work for publishing. My tools of choice depend on the task in hand but mainly revolve around some combination of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, HTML, CSS, JQuery and PHP. Specialties: Graphic Design, Illustration, Hand coded CSS & (X)HTML, Web Design, Animation, JQuery

          • From November 2012 until October 2017 I was the sole in-house graphic designer at Sirius Minerals. In October 2017 the design team started to expand with the addition of a junior designer. As graphic designer my main duties are to assist with the design, style and production of key company documentation, for both printed and electronic use. This can range from designing single panel newspaper adverts to 90-page annual reports, business cards to exhibition displays and banners, liaising with suppliers, printers and other company staff at all levels. Also managing and mentoring freelance designers, interns and work-experience students. In addition to my main duties, in late 2015 I was asked to develop a new corporate website for launch in February 2016, using the open-source ProcessWire CMS. New templates were created in HTML and PHP, utilising the Foundation framework to create responsive layouts and various JQuery plugins to add functionality as required. Updates and new feature additions were made throughout the year, using a basic GIT workflow for version control. Subsequently, in April 2017 I was tasked with designing and developing a new website for the launch of the Sirius Minerals Foundation in May 2017, and towards the end of 2017 work started on developing a new version of the Sirius Minerals corporate website, for launch in early 2018. Key tasks include; Creation of graphics, photography and illustrations as required Design of internal and external documentation Design, development and administration of corporate and related websites Assisting with production of presentations Video and audio editing as required
