A multidisciplinary designer and illustrator with 15 years commercial experience across public/corporate relations, sales & marketing and internal communications functions. I currently work in-house, designing and producing work for print, digital/web and motion projects.
During my career to date, I've been involved in creating large volumes of artwork for print and web, often to demanding deadlines, as well as being involved in a number of in-house projects and trials, including training creation & provision, customer liaison & video/animation production.
I also carry out freelance illustration and design under the name House of Deadleg. The majority of my freelance work is character-based vector illustration, but it also encompasses hand-drawn lettering, making maps, logo design & branding and much more besides. It's mainly vector, with some pixels and pencils mixed in.
I have an interest in animation and children's picture books – something I'm currently working on developing further for my portfolio. I'm also very interested in breaking into the video-games industry in a design or art-related role, and would welcome any advice, assistance or offers in this regard.
I'm a member of the Association of Illustrators and the York Guild of Media Arts, and I'm currently available for projects, collaborations and commissions. I'm particularly interested in opportunities for representation and illustration work for publishing.
Projects
- SodascreamI'm showing my age slightly with this one, but I clearly remember when I was younger having these flavours for our Sodastream, although no one else I've mentioned them to seems to remember them, and I can only find one small reference on the whole worldwide internet. There was a violently pink Gremlins Gizmo flavour as well, but he's not scary enough to draw for Halloween. Anyone on here remember them? Now that Sodastreams are a thing again, maybe they can bring Sodascream back too?
- Woodsmith Foundation rebrandAfter several years without much love or attention, it was decided that the Sirius Minerals Foundation was going to change its name to the Woodsmith Foundation, to better align with the parent project of the same name. As part of the renaming process a full rebrand was required. A couple of different concepts were worked on and suggested. This concept took as its central theme the idea that, for the Foundation, "people are at the centre of everything we do". In this case, quite literally, putti
- Crumbs branding conceptsConcepts and initial direction for a new home bakery. Their mission, to provide the people of Scarborough with home baked treats that would satisfy even the most hardened chocoholic and the most dedicated treat hunter. The main logo is hand-drawn, based on cookie cutter letters, including the omission of the counters (always tricky when cutting out dough). The intention was to use recycled kraft paper board to complement the brand colours.
