About me
I am a final year textiles student. I have a graphic eye and a love of bold colour and simple shapes, regularly experimenting with scale and layouts to develop prints suited towards an interior setting.
I draw inspiration from my everyday surroundings, from drain covers and shop fronts to architectural features, picking out key shapes, colours and compositions to create contemporary and playful designs.
I mainly use hand processes such as collage and screen printing to achieve unique results with a ‘cut and paste’ look. I also like to work with select hard surface materials such as wood, tile, Perspex and Jesmonite to create fun 3D outcomes.
Projects
- OUT AND ABOUTMy collection ‘Out and About’ is inspired by my photography taken of everyday outdoor settings and objects, zooming in on interesting textures, colours, and compositions. Later in my project, I was also inspired by the totem structures by Ettore Sottsass. The main process used in this project screen printing, along with small inserts of digital print for more complex and multi-layered designs. I also tufted some rug samples and explored hard surface with jesmonite mirrors, bookends, and soap di
- Still Here Still LifeA collection of screen and digital prints along with UV printed tiles and placemats. Named ‘Still Here Still Life’, inspired by the Instagram challenge of the same name in which a new still life prompt was posted each week to keep artists engaged and creating during lockdown. I decided to focus on objects and still life settings around my own home, such as my breakfast and my mum’s vases, drawing and collaging from these and developing them into graphic and playful outcomes that showcase my own
