About me
I am an ideas driven independent freelance designer based in the South West. I specialise in creating brand identities, including design for print and for the web. I work with award winning agencies on a freelance basis as well as on my own client projects. My approach in design is to communicate; not decorate. Ideas lead my work, to create solutions that are memorable, engaging and sometimes witty! Less is more is a principle I work by, producing clear and simple visual communication. I have worked mainly in the areas of branding & identity, print & editorial, digital, design for web and packaging. Since graduating from university with an FdA & BA(hons) in graphic design, I undertook a number of internships at prestigious design agencies in London and the South West before deciding to become a freelancer.
Projects
  • Domus Doorbells
Domus DoorbellsDomus Doorbells manufacture high quality traditional mechanical doorbell systems. The systems are made up of two assemblies – the indoor bell assembly and the outside bell pull. I designed the brand identity for the business based on these two assemblies, the main logo is an icon of a bell that also resembles a letter 'D'. The bell icon can then be used in conjunction with the bell pull graphic device on applications. This was then carried through to the company brochure, stationery and other p

Working with StudioBaum, we created a unique and flexible identity for the aw
  • Do The Green Thing
Do The Green ThingDo The Green Thing teamed up with WWF UK and briefed the Country's creatives to create a poster to inspire greener living for Earth Hour. I was lucky enough to have my design chosen as one of the six finalists. This meant spending an inspirational day at Pentagram's London office and meeting the Do The Green Thing team. My poster makes use of a visual idea in which cyclists illustrated from above appear to be the stripes in a road. Teamed with a copy line which suggests people try cycling to wo
  • Somerset Dyslexia Association
Somerset Dyslexia AssociationSomerset Dyslexia Association aims to raise awareness and understanding of dyslexia and to be a source of practical support to those who have dyslexia. For their Somerset Dyslexia Awareness Week I produced a poster highlighting the fact that many people in the UK suffer from dyslexia and communicates to those people that they're not alone. This is done through a simple copy alteration of the 'great minds think alike' phrase, as people who suffer from dyslexia commonly swap around words as well as letters.
  • London Financial District
London Financial DistrictA brief to create a brand for the London financial district that can be used and owned by the people and companies within the square mile. The brand is to be used by the 500 banks within the city as well as the bars, restaurants and cafes. My solution was to create a typographic identity based on both the architecture of the city as well as finance charts. The identity becomes flexible for different uses: lifestyle, finance, culture etc. A global brand campaign utilises the typographic identity creating posters that resemble financial graphs and charts, advertising the city on billboards and ads hells. The work was an in book winner of the D&AD New Blood Awards 2012
