I have undertaken several projects on a freelance basis. These have included branding, website creation, print and illustration. I have always ensured that communication is at the heart of each commission, working closely with the clients to ensure I fully meet the needs of their brief and go above and beyond their expectations. In doing so I have built up a faithful client base.
At Brilliant I worked on a range of different creative content for several different brands, ranging from independent to those more commercially driven. This was a fast paced environment and the role demanded a quick turn around on projects, whilst not compromising on the quality of deliverables. The team took a collaborative approach to completing tasks , creative responsibilities were shared out based on people’s strengths. My key responsibilities included designing and creating content for social media platforms, image editing and manipulation, working on animated content, brand identity proposals and presentations. Whilst working on branded projects it was important to work to the brand guidelines, but ensuring the creative work was executed with a fresh approach.
During my internship I worked within the Design and Communications team at Next. I worked on several projects including print collateral, wayfinding, videography, animation and photography. I managed projects from concept to completion, ensuring that I communicated effectively throughout the entire process. My role also included liaising with reprographics to ensure the printing process went smoothly. Additionally, I supported the Next Career’s social media page, working on a number of recruitment campaigns to promote Next careers. I designed and scheduled social media posts for Next Distribution, ensuring the content appealed to the target audience. Using my own initiative, I analysed demographic statistics to evaluate the success of each post to ensure maximum impact for future career campaigns.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design from Manchester School of Art. The course developed my skills in layout, typography, illustration, photography, art direction, user interface design and brand identity. I experimented heavily with range of different Adobe software. The course enabled me to constantly push myself, to learn as much as possible and to better myself in every aspect. I established key skills in ‘pitching’ and communicating ideas through a variety of different projects, lectures and workshops. These skills have helped me talk about my work, communicate thoughts and confidently pitch ideas to audiences of all ages. Another attribute I learnt whilst on my studies was the importance of time management and meeting deadlines. I have benefitted from Inspirational lectures from industry professionals and award-winning studios such as Hey Studio, Kate Moross, Studio Dumbar, Designers Republic, Alan Kitching, Erik Kessels, Lord Whitney, 4creative, DR.ME, Johnathon Barnbrook, Alec Dudson (from Intern Magazine) and many more. Each had a unique approach and business discipline which enabled me to understand the importance of meeting the different needs of my audience.
