About me
PERSONAL DESCRIPTION : From an early age I'm interested in mathematics, which led me to follow the area of Science and Technology, as well as choose the degree in Mechanical Engineering. Currently, I finished my master in Production Management from the University of Porto (FEUP) with relevant coursework in Financial Management, Logistics, Quality Management and Operations Management. I like to spend my free time complementing my technical education reading about Kaizen philosophy, Economics, Business Strategy and Entrepreneurship. In addition, I practice my English language whenever I can, in order to develop my skills and become more complete day after day. Simultaneously, I’m a surf practitioner and I play guitar in some music events. In the past, I practiced football and federated swimming for many years. That fact helped me to learn how to work in group and promote good interpersonal relations with the others. The competitions I was inserted, taught me to have a concrete objective and fight for it, to share, to deal with adversity, to follow rules and respect others. Furthermore, I was team captain during some of my sports activities, which made me guide and hear the points of view of my teammates. I’m a travel lover, who wishes to know different countries and cultures, with an adventurous spirit (Backpacker across Southeast Asia, South America, part of Central America and Europe). Moreover, I lived in Buenos Aires for half a year and I believe that these multi-cultural environments may confer an asset to me and enriched me as person. In the future I pretend to enroll me on an MBA program with the specific objective to deepen the knowledge and skills in the contexts of Management and Administration combined with a strong strand practice. PERSONAL INTERESTS - Travel lover: experienced different cultures in 30+ countries (Backpacker around Europe, Southeast Asia, South America and part of Central America) - Sports: Surf practitioner, former federated swimmer (national competitions), former soccer player SCVianense (national championship) - Business strategy and entrepreneurship - Music: Grade 5 on electric guitar and musical education (Technical Exercises, Sight Reading, Improvisation, Interpretation and Ear Tests) at ROCKSCHOOL MUSIC LTD
Projects
  • Material Flow Improvement - Borgwarner Inc
Material Flow Improvement - Borgwarner IncFrom February until July of the present year, I did a project at Borgwarner. It is a multinational company and I was member of the Logistics Department, developing a MATERIAL FLOW IMPROVEMENT project, using the Lean thinking and Kaizen Tools to increase the efficiency of production. My team and I, analyzed the operation of all the material flow existing in the factory with the objective of identifying some existing problems. In order to increase the production, many concepts were applied, as the use of functional kanbans, logistic trains and line edges. The project achieved some goals: Material supply systems were implemented in production lines. It was possible to obtain savings in the movements of the workers to order raw material and to supply their jobs. The ergonomics associated with the line edges were promoted. It was possible to reduce the accumulation of stock in production, greater cleaning, organization and safety of the lines. Visual management mecanisms were created with the objective of facilitating the comunication between the needs of the production lines and logistics trains.
