centre. Here, I got the chance to apply my aforementioned skills in a store with greater
footfall and increased turnover.

This role gave me the understanding of a commercially focused and customer-driven
organisation. Having worked closely with various store managers, my visual
merchandising skills quickly developed. From there, I was often tasked with creating
visually appealing displays; successfully making them more desirable and accessible for
customers. This resulted in an increase in footfall and sales. Equally, the progression of my
interpersonal and teamworking skills quickly accelerated whilst working for this company.
My role included engaging with differing audiences (from organizing children’s pares to
working with senior management), working in partnership with colleagues to achieve a
common goal and addressing external needs. The management team identified my
enthusiasm to develop my skills and supported me in strengthening my understanding,
knowledge and application of the various aspects of retail: merchandising, promotions,
stock control, customer service and cash handling.

2021, I hope to enhance my graduate career prospects by carrying out a year-long
placement in the industry. My second year of study has allowed me to explore
entrepreneurial activity, including production and presentation of 3D outcomes.
Furthermore, I have analysed audience, niche groups, individual users, semantics,
ergonomics and market levels. Earlier in the course, I have covered the fundamentals of
fashion, specialist design and production, this involved working with specialist materials
and processes.
