About me
A creative and proactive gallery professional with nineteen years’ experience in the arts sector. Recently completed an Interim Director role at the New Ashgate Gallery with responsibility for the overall operation and development of the artistic, educational and financial strategies. Four years’ ensuring the smooth running of logistics for gallery attendance at national and international art fairs including Palm Beach3, Fiac, London Art Fair and the Arts and Antiques fair.

    Repurposed: Trash to treasureRepurposed brings together artists who work with either recycled, reused or found materials, making beautiful and compelling works. Breathing new life into discarded objects and offering a platform for discussion on the subject of sustainability and recycling.     Led a team of 3 staff and 5 volunteers with a turnover of £210,000 per annum. Reporting to a board of 8 trustees for the New Ashgate Gallery, a non-profit making trust, cultivating the pursuit of excellence in a marketplace environment, with support to emerging artists, by exhibiting work and through professional development. Maintained partnerships including liaising with the Crafts Council for the Hothouse | Selected exhibition, 2018 Hothouse programme mediation and sitting on the steering group for Craft Town England. Led in the direction, curation and coordination of Rising Stars 2018, Hothouse | Selected, Surrey Artist of the Year 2018 and the 2019-20 exhibitions programme including Prize| A celebration of painting and the Diaspora Series. Developed a learning and participation programme during October Craft month. Responsible for evaluation of past budgets to ensure accuracy in current overall annual budget and monitoring of restricted budgets, cash position and bookkeeping to present, in conjunction with the treasurer, quarterly management accounts, cashflow forecasts and gallery performance. Developed and managed a sales and marketing strategy for the gallery, to engage existing and new audiences at local and national level. Identifying commercial opportunities to maximise income through smaller sales items including an increase in sales of merchandise over 11 months by 39%. Led in the development and coordination of a digital marketing strategy and PR to ensure promotion and publicity for the gallery whilst monitoring the gallery’s customer service. Implemented a thorough data audit to ensure an effective GDPR compliant policy. Wrote applications for, coordinated, successfully delivered and evaluated projects funded by the Patricia Baines Trust, The Billmeir Charitable Trust and the South Street Trust. Updated evaluation plans to the Trust to ensure effective and accurate data analysis and reporting of the impact and success of each project. Overall responsibility for the recruitment, retention and development of paid staff and volunteers. Implemented a positive, open and collaborative working environment and restructure of responsibilities to enable team members to fulfil their potential and realise successful delivery of plans.
