About me
Hi I'm Zainab and I'm a fashion graduate from London currently work as a sales advisor at H&M which I enjoy as I get to meet and interact with so many people.. I studied fashion and design for 8 years, graduating from a BA Top up Fashion & Design course with 3 distinctions at London College of Contemporary Arts. I really enjoyed it because I got to learn a lot about the different areas of the fashion industry not just one so I left with a range of knowledge and skills. Throughout the years of studying I have learnt everything from trend research, initial design to construction as well as digital design. Since finishing university I have interned at a couple of studios, signed up to work as a freelancer (online) as well as worked as a sales associate at Gap all which taught me different things.
Projects
- Design for a brandFor this project we were asked to design a collection for a chosen brand. I choose the brand/retail shop Monsoon. I just love their bohemian, girly romantic style. I did research on the type of brand they are and what their inspirations are. I based my project research on Moroccan art, keeping in theme with their inspiration I also incorporated a bit of bohemian style into it. From the moodbaord I put together I created a print mixing brush inks (on paper) and digital design (photoshop). I then
- Enchanted ForestFor this project we were asked to create 3 prints and create a range plan with them. So for 1 print I created 5 boards of 8 styles of dresses and have the print on them in different variation. I change the size, colour and position of the print. I love designing on the computer and mt work reflects that. My theme for my prints was enchanted forest, looking at the dark mystical side of nature. (please note I have not put up all of my work for this project, feel free to contact me if you would li
- Fractured ArtisanFor this project we had a selection of words to choose from, I choose the words Fractured, Bright, Cut, Eclectic and Smooth. For this project I went to a couple of museums to find inspiration, looking at things that my words related to. My main focus was gemstones, I liked the fractured shapes and the mixture of colour. With this project i create different textile samples, inspired by things i had seen in museums or galleries. This lead to design ideas and a final 10 which I illustrated using co
- 1920's projectFor this project we had to pick a decade and design a collection for a shop. My chosen shop was JOY which has a very pretty, feminine style of clothes. After colating research and creating some textile design to fill a sketchbook I came up with 60 fashion design ideas and from that picked 14 as my final designs. I used photoshop to draw my final illustrations. I also had to do a range plan which included 3 colour variation. (please note this is a fraction of the whole project, feel free to con
