I work as manager director at Progressive Productions and I normally take part in projects as producer. These are two separate occupations basically; dealing with the company’s business, with all sorts of administrational issues and overlooking projects as producer; leading it and giving it attention. But I do not see these as two detached roles, as many would; I have noticed that it is a lot more natural to let these two occupations merge into each other. This way our clients do not need to meet multiple people, instead they can develop understanding work relationships with us. This is the way we see it here in Progressive, that you can not only be a manager director without being a producer.
I have been working at Progressive since it was founded in 2009, because next to Iván Gerő I am the co-founder of the company. I believe that a company can develop well when it works in foresight of the next few years ahead of its current situation. A company can get slightly grounded when during success it does not think about its future. As manager, I work hard on developing and creating new opportunities for the future and as a producer I have to make sure that the company performs the best it can. We started out as a small company mainly concentrating on the Hungarian market, then when that went well, we started to develop opportunities on the international market. This is how at the time of regression on the Hungarian market, we started to become successful internationally. We always concentrated on evolving, enabling us to constantly develop. In this business if you do not renew yourself and find new clients and possibilities, then you can easily become unsuccessful, since the market and everything else changes so quickly; those who were our clients years ago, either do not exist anymore, or have completely changed their profile. This means that one has to always be active and appealing on the market in order to always have active projects and clients.
Everyone at Progressive has taken part in its development. I am skilled in administration and systemizing, enabling that our financial systems have become stable and have developed a lot over the years, as well as the quality of our budgeting system, which I believe is one of the highest quality and most detailed on the market. We are constantly developing and deepening our knowledge on the areas that we deal with. This is what my personality is like, I am happy to achieve something, like a new system, but I quickly get bored of it and strive to develop it further. Progressive is advancing technologically, with modern communication systems, modern cloud systems, which is unique and enables great teamwork. We also have a financial system that assists accounting, for the company and projects, making them more accountable.
All the experience that I have gained is has been during leading productions with a lot on stake, since during university I invested all my time and energy into my studies and planning my future. I did research and wrote publications on topics that I felt important and relevant, getting more in depth knowledge in communication, cultural anthropology, sociology, communication models, communication for organisations and media. I even wrote investigative journalist articles for a Hungarian newspaper and worked for the radio. Then after intensely studying, I felt I was able to get into the deep water and start working with television crews, since I have always enjoyed having large pressure on me and to be responsible for things that I am not fully ready for at that moment, because I enjoy large challenges and development.
I am very concentrated and hardworking, so if I start something I will certainly proceed with it. I love to develop, innovate and renew myself, the company and projects. I am ideal for productions that have a German work ethic, that is one which is ordered, disciplined and systemised. Of course, I can collaborate and accommodate myself to more causal productions, but I work the best on ones that are precise. I have good organizing and logistic skills, and a great memory, which is useful for productions.
