Advice on drawing tablets for illustration.

Hi there, I've not had a tablet for illustration before but I'm now looking to get one and there are so many options I could use a little help. I am thinking about the Wacom Cintiq 16, which is in my budget and seems to have good reviews. Does anyone have it and would recommend? Or should I be considering any others? Thank you :)

  • @Victoria Geary Thank you - that's great to hear :) In the end, I did actually go with the Cintiq 16 and it's arriving today - yay!

Thank you to everyone who commented - really appreciated your input. Ahh I love TheDots :D
  • @Sandrine Bascouert Ah that's a shame about the customer service but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if the display itself is good. Going to take some time tonight to do a bit more research based on everyone's recommendations and see where I end up. Will be so excited when I finally have one :)
  • @Leyla Alexander Let's be honest, their Customer service is not top notch. I tried to check if I could colour calibrate the display prior to buy (I have a two screen set up, and wanted to know if I could use it as part of my retouching worflow with the screen on). They wouldn't know what I was talking about, also I had trouble finding the replacement nibs at the time (it has been resolved now), but hardware and software wise, I can't find any fault. I find it more useful for my illustration work than for my retouching (I keep using it like a standard tablet for the retouching :) )
Wacoms are good too, If I won the lottery I would have bought a Cintiq mobile studio, but that's a bit out of question!
I had standrad tablets from both XP Pen and Wacom before and both are excellent.
  • @Darya Solomenko That sounds like an amazing setup! It's good to know what everyone recommends. Sadly, I think the iPad pro is out of budget for me but let me know if you go for it! :)
  • @Leyla Alexander I have a display tablet from XP pen (13.3 pro) and it works too!
I bought it at around £200 at the time so really nicely priced.
Hit me with some questions if you need more info....
  • I've been using an XP Pen artist22Pro for around a year now and it works great. It's fairly priced too but if you like the feel of the wacom and it's in you're budget just go for
  • I love wacom display tablets,ı realy recommed it ,I am using wacom one right now ıt has so many similareties with wacom 16
  • @Cal Hernandez Thank you - I will definitely have a look at the one you have. Just checked and it's a really good price! I was just looking at ones with screens but maybe I don't need it. So much choice! x
  • I've had a XP-Pen Deco 01 V2 for five months and it's really good! Decently priced too but if you're looking for one like the Wacom you mentioned, just buy that one! All the Wacom tablets are superb from what I've heard x
