Any advice for recent BA graduates on building an international career, specifically in fashion?
As an American who just graduated in the UK with a BA, I am very invested in staying in the U.K. or workin with a company that might keep/move me back to the U.K. or the E.U. in general. Any advice for career roles, companies or genral advice for staying in the U.K. or building an international oriented career that would allow for living abroad or travel is appreciated.

- @Melissa Sterry This is really wonderful advice, thank you!
- Enter awards. Especially awards with a global audience. I know from having previously founded and run the first digital fashion awards, which were created to launch the careers of emerging fashion talent, if yours is the capacity to gain a finalist position in a fashion awards programme, you will ensure that your work, and thus you, are visible to the people that can open the doors you need opened. If a designer, two projects you might want to consider entering are the International Design Awards, which have a student/grad fashion design category, and the Red Carpet Green Dress annaul award to design/make a sustainable and ethical outfit for the Oscars. If not a designer, do a search on awards in your area, and enter, enter, enter. Ensure not to be dis-heartened if you don't gain a finals place, simply keep tyring. The same applies to job applications, and every other endeavour. Fashion is a fiercely difficult industry to get ahead in, but if you stick at it, and turn any failure into the fuel that spurs you on... you'll get there.
