Any advice or websites for recent graduates looking for a creative/ art based job in the UK?

I am a recent MA graduate of Fine Art and i have been struggling to find the perfect creative job to utilise all the skills learned from past experiences and my degree.

It seems all the main jobs are Graphic design based but as a fine artist and having no to little experience with appropriate softwares for this job role (little knowledge surrounding Adobe suite) it seems like i keep on hitting deadends. I have quite a lot of experience within the art world itself, however my passed career experience do not reflect this.

Any advice on how people have started their creative based jobs would be massively appreciated :)

  • Hey @Miye Tse,

If I got it right, do you want to transition from fine art to more graphic positions?

As a fine art graduate, I guess building credibility helps. Have you been on residencies? have you applied for grants for artists? that would strengthen that fine art identity.

Now if you are transitioning, you really have to ask yourself what you want. Is it fully design? or a mix of both because it's not the same approach.
    • You have to think like a graphic designer who appeals to a certain kind of client (who do you want to work with? will help you build your portfolio in a way)
    • As a fine art graduate, if your portfolio stands out you can also work with art directors and work on projects where your fine art style is what makes the project.

You can look into the ''https://www.creativelivesinprogress.com/''.
I also drop some opportunities for creatives in my newsletter (https://yourcreativeletter.substack.com/)

The main questions are: do you want to do freelance gigs as a designer? do you want to work with art directors on projects? or do you want to build your style with residencies or grants... and eventually do exhibitions?

    Hope it helps.
