Any fellow Chronically Ill/Differently abled creatives out there?

I've been thinking alot this week about how the industry makes it very hard to succeed, at least at a 'normal' pace, when you have health restrictions.

I would love to meet anyone else in a similar position and wonder if we can do anything to use this time of reset to make the industry take notice.

I've been using the term 'Passing for healthy' for a while now as my illness is invisible and i've learnt to hide it very well. But I'm starting to think that's doing a disservice to others who aren't able and shouldn't have to 'hide' or cover up their own and probably a disservice to my self too.

Just thinking alot about it and eager to hear others experiences.

  • @Teresa Abulafia-Silver Hey Teresa, I'd love to know any specific areas you've found on the Mighty that are useful for chatting with similar people? I've always found it great for reading but struggled to find people in similar situations on there. OTx
  • Thank you all for your replies! If any of you is interested in starting a WhatsApp group - just to share our stories and offer moral support or even experience then DM your numbers and I'll set one up! I think part of the problem is we're all trying to take on the challenge alone . We don't have to we can help each other! OT x
  • Hiya!
I have endometriosis and it’s affected my studies and freelance work to the point where I purely just study at the moment.
Safe to say, I’m worried about what kind of sector and job I want to go in to have the flexibility and to be able to have sick pay when I’m unable to work.
I try and work hard for weeks and weeks so when I do feel unwell I don’t feel as bad for giving time to myself
