Anyone know how to start a blog and earn money from it?
I want to start a blog as I have a passion for photography and writing but I also need to earn some money as, like many others, I’ve recently lost income - is there a way to combine both while in lockdown?

- Try the platform medium
- @Maxine Harrison That's so funny you mentioned Pinterest. I've just seen a question I hadn't spotted from someone offering advice on it. Check this out, Grace:https://the-dots.com/asks/i-m-looking-for-bloggers-small-businesses-who-would-like-to-get-more-traffic-to-their-website-via-pinterest-offering-my-services-for-free-6259
- @Maxine Harrison ah thank you! I’ll do some research on that :)
- @Kid Circus thank you so much for the advice!
- @Kid Circus Thanks so much for reccommending my blog; completely agree with the detailed advice you've given! @Grace Rieffel I hope you find it useful. Pinterest is a great marketing platform for bloggers which can lead to a great return of investment. Theres tons of YouTubers and bloggers that talk about pinterest marketing too. Anastasia blogger is a one I've found helpeful : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdWuaD0l2wQ
- I think at the start your blog and what you write about needs to offer value. The more value you offer the more chances your blog will be found by people when they carry out internet searches.I think earning money from it will take time. Building up a mailing list (put a subscribe box on whatever platform you decide to build your blog with) is something that seems to be a strong recommendation when starting a blog. This enables you to keep people updated when you publish a new blog post. It also means that when you go to companies or brands you'd like to seek sponsorship or partner with, you can show how strong your readership and audience is and the value you can bring to them. When you think you've built up a loyal, engaged and (sizeable enough) audience, you can look at things like running advertisments, brand partnerships, selling courses/ebooks etc.A tough decision is deciding what platform to base your blog on. Many blogs I've stumbled across via internet searches are based on Wordpress. Take a look at @Maxine Harrison 's blog below, which talks about using Wordpress as well as monetisation:https://remireports.com/best-website-builders-for-writers-2020/'cuse the blathering on. Happy chat further privately. :-D
