Current and past Junior designers, Please share your salaries! I have my final interview tomorrow and would really appreciate help.

I think the secrecies surrounding paychecks are soo unnecessary and lead to clouded information which ultimately results in people getting underpaid. Any one that has had a Junior designer position in London - please share what your annual earnings were, did you have to negotiate with your employer?
Hope to gain useful insights through everyone's answers!

  • That is the average pay, each company depends on their budget you may have a contract of start salary of 22k - 25k and progress every year or 3 years. This depends on the company winning profit and investment.
  • @ɐɹoᗡ ɐuu∀ ˥ Thank you so much Anna for your detailed answer! The company is an ad agency in the middle of London that works with pretty big brands. Do you think I should be expecting the upper end?
  • Going throuh offers gives me an immpression that it's more between 22-24K annual salary. But I don't have my own experience ;)
  • Hi Pooja,

In design salaries can be very vary, just as an example if you are junior designer for a publishing company outside of big cities it can be like £18K, oppositie to that if you are a junior digital designer for Apple it can be £35K.

I would recommend you to do a bit of research on Glassdoor or so about the company you are interviewing for what they usually pay for designers and expect if you have any special to bring on board, work with that numbers.
