Digital agencies / Sales people - What do you think is a fair and reasonable commission rate?

Hey guys,

I'm doing a bit of research around commission/referral rates with digital agencies.

What do you guys think is a reasonable commission rate when an external salesperson consistently refers quality and vetted clients/customers to you?

Really appreciate the feedback!

  • Hi Jordan,

I would say it's 10-20% of the projects' profit that he bringed in. I do know this is what majority of the creative agencies charge in London.
  • Hi Jordan, a commission is based on two main factors:
    - One, the size of the project, the bigger the project the more money the agency will do therefore the bigger the commision should be (in a retainer case you can even ask for a monthly fee over a few months)
    - Two, is the work you are doing for the connection, like is it a simple referal or you are actualy doing some sales ground work or even client management.

But to answer your question, it is usualy between 5% to 20% - You can ask 15% and see what happen!
