Directors/ producers, when looking for a cinematographer/DP what impresses you and what puts you off?
I'd like to know how people decide who to hire.

- I look for these 3 main things & how its used.1. The use of the 3 stages of Composition2. Camera Movement in relation to tone & Genre3. Colour Theory [is my Cinematographer shooting W/ post in mind]

- It impresses you when their work looks very cinematic - use of different lighting, angles etc, it’s off putting when it looks quite simple as if they are just operating the camera.
- @Anca Badita if you watch a film you can generally see where a DOP has their finger prints on the work. How they use their work to help tell the story.
- @Akin Kongi what do you mean by see if they bring their own creativity? How can you tell?
